Bottle, 75cl. A very dark brown beer, unclear, with a dense, two-finger light beige head. There’s some cherry on the nose, along with roasted malts, bretty fruityness, lemon hints and a cellar-ish touch. Lasting flavor with cherries blending well with the roasted malts. Some berry hints, a faint salty hint and some bretty hints. Medium body, pleasant carbonation. Lasting finish with some salty hints, roasted malts and cherries. Actually, this beer is a winner. Both tasteful and wonderful. proof that you won’t find all the gems in the bigger breweries. This is what keeps me going. 130811

Bottle thanks to ericandersnavy. Most annoying wax to remove that has ever been conceived. Sorry, but I didn’t get any sourness at all from this. Pours with a small tan head over a brown body. Aroma of plastic, alcohol, cherries and vanilla. Taste is watery, belgian yeast, alcohol, earthy, dirt. Light bubbles. Decently dry finish. No sourness.

Bottle from the brewpub. Tim Goeppinger, brewmaster. Pours like a stout with a light beige head. Light aroma of dark malt and fruits - maybe cherry. Medium body with foamy carbonation. Flavor is oaky fruity sour, but not very cherry. Very oaky, rather astringent. The sour tends to move into oak and dark fruit. It’s an easy drinker, but quite unusual. Main aspect is oak/sour. Improves with time. Good with cheese and nuts. THIS IS NOT A STANDARD KRIEK. It is a very good ale.
