Bottle. Nose is a bit skunked from the clear bottle...otherwise light malts, a bit of carmel, touch of cinnamon, hay. Rther unexciting nose. Deep orange-amber color with a low, thick, head. Rather pretty. Light malt, mineral flavor, somewhat sweet, caramel, bit of vanilla, slight touch of earthy hops. Slightly peppery finish. Dull.                          

Red brown colour. Flavour is predominantly bitter with a little bittersweetness coming from the strong flavoured malts. General lack of hoppiness is the critical failure of this IPA.

Originally rated January 2009. It pours a clear caramel colour with a big foamy off-white head, some decent lacing and better than average retention. Beautiful aroma of butterscotch with a touch of hop. A very nice balance between sweet and bitterness. This is also found in the taste. Medium-thin mouthfeel that is not watery, but close (and fits well this brew). Bread and grass are also in the flavour. The sweet scent does disappear fast, as I can not find it anymore. Weird that they call this one an IPA, when it is a bitter. Oh well, like most Greene King products I have had... nothing spectacular, but quite good overall.

500ml bottle. Pours dark amber with a medium head. Aroma is faint, spicy, skunky caramel. Taste is spicy malt to start and a skunky caramel finish.

Bouteille 500ml ("Export" mentionné nulle part sur la bouteille mais titrée à 5,0% d’alcool). De couleur ambrée-cuivrée foncée et claire. Nez de houblon herbeux, floral et légèrement terreux, moyen de caramel aux petites notes rôties, léger de butterscotch avec des traces fruitées (agrumes). Mince-moyenne en bouche avec un pétillement moyen-bas et une texture très légèrement crémeuse et aux petites notes aqueuses. Notes fruitées (agrumes, faibles traces de raisins) accompagné d’une légère amertume de houblon floral et légèrement terreux (une amertume présente en arrière-plan toute la gorgée) lors de l’entrée en bouche auquel se rajoute un goût malté de caramel très légèrement rôti avec un léger goût de biscuits, des notes de butterscotch et des traces de pain grillé puis en finale l’amertume de houblon reprend légèrement le dessus en étant légèrement asséchante avec des notes herbeuses. Post-goût moyen et aux notes sèches, moyen-léger amer de houblon floral, légèrement herbeux et aux petites notes terreuses.

Bottle from Morrisons. Clear copper colour, off-white head. Aroma is sweet caramel malts, bread, some grassy hops. Flavour is caramel malts, grassy, bit alcoholic, fairly bitter, sweet finish.

Poured from bottle in the US. The last time I had Greene King IPA, it was cask conditioned in London. When I saw this at my local specialty shop, I couldn’t help but pick it up. This pours a clear dark amber with a thin head that slowly dissipates. Aroma is mostly malty with a very subtle hop character. Taste is very similar to the aroma, slightly bitter. I feel that I’m rating this based on my travel experience, I bought this for $5 for a 16 oz which is pretty expensive, not sure if I’ll purchase again, but I’m glad I did at least once.

500ml see-through bottle bought from bestillingsutvalget, Systembolaget.. Firm, off-white head, slowly vanishing over a bright, copper-amber body. Spotty lacework on the glass. Smell of caramel malts along with dry hops. Fine transition from aroma to the flavours of plain bready malts and delicate hops. Smooth and long-lived bitter tail. Should make a great session beer (The Elvis memorial day, Tromsø 08.01.2010).
