On tap @ the brewpub. Dark brown, almost black body with a dense beige head. A bit weak in aroma with dark malt, chocolate, hint of pin and some fruit. Flavor has sweet, dark malt, chocolate, fruit, some pine and medium bitterness. Medium body and moderate in aftertaste with a little hint of some sourness. A bit unusually for a Black IPA, actually a bit unusually hoppy flavor regardless beer style. Medium body and average aftertaste. Unusually but not bad. Alcohol is well hidden.

On tap at the brewpub. An almost black one, topped by a dense beige head. Molasses, coffee, some burnt malts and piney, resiny hops in the aroma. It’s full bodied and soft on the palate, not too sweet. The flavor has toffee, coffee, some molasses and burnt malts and a nice hoppy bitterness and some pine cones. Lasting finish with lots of malts and hops. A bit on the dark side this one, but sure nice. 150710
