Pours dark reddish brown with a tan head. Aroma has notes of roasted malt, licorice, lactose, chocolate, cocoa and hint of coffee. Taste is medium sweet and medium bitter with a long roasted bitterness, licorice, chocolate, caramel, coffee, lactose and cocoa finish. Body is medium, texture is oily, carbonation is soft.

On tap at the brewpub. A very dark brown beer, almost clear, and with just some light beige on top. It’s lightly roasted on the nose, with coffee grit notes and some dark chocolate. It’s quite dry on the palate, medium bodied and smooth on the palate. Chocolate, coffee, some malt sourness and roasted malts in the flavor. A little sweetness too. Mostly roasted finish, some chocolate and coffee mixed in. Easy drinkable and tasteful. 160116
