We love hybrids. It is always interesting to combine the best of two beer styles. This is the playful symbiosis of a Maybock and a Hoppy beer from the Northwest of the US. Hoppy and malty. And a bit hazy. Fruity and rich. Does it get any better...?

Bottle, thx to the brewer. It's a lightly hazy golden colored beer with a finger-thick white head. The aroma is at first just like a really nice heller bock, but a thorough inspection reveals a much more piney, citrusy hop profile. There's the expected pleasant malt profile and a nice grassy, fruity touch as well, both in the aroma and the flavor. It has a nice bitterness, more bitter than the bocks usually are, but with the pale bock-ish sweetness to bring some sort of balance. It's full-bodied and smooth on the palate, with some warmth, and a lasting hop driven finish on a solid malt driven backdrop. With the subtitle found on the label, New England Maibock, in mind, I was expecting a much more punch in your face hop aroma and flavor, but it's a very pleasant beer anyway. More like a nice maibock meeting a traditional PNW IPA or something, which also matches the commercial description on the label. 180219
