Growler, Zwanze Day, Nøgne Ø. An unclear, yellow beer with more or less no head. White bread, sourmash, lemon juice, some forest and juniper branches in the aroma. Slightly salty in the mouth, mineralish and quite acidic. Dry and flat, still smooth on the palate, oily and almost meaty protein-like. Hard to explain actually. White bread, mash and lemon juice in the flavor, with some forest. Lasting finish with rhubarb showing up in addition to what’s known initially. A bit too acidic and sour this one, but it’s sure a nice brew. 161001

Pours hazy golden with a white head. Aroma is tart with notes of malt, vinegar, lacto, citrus, and gooseberries. Taste is light to medium sweet and medium sour with a long dry, tart, vinegar, gooseberry and hint of apple finish. Body is light to medium, texture is thin, carbonation is soft.

WoW. My goodness. I do not think it is possible to get it more acidic and dry than this. Love/hate. Refreshing and nice in my mouth.
Hazy pale golden color with a white head. Good intensity in the aroma. Ok body for a beer at 4%. Soft carbonation level. DRY and ACIDIC. Citric, yeast, biscuit and lactic flavor. Quite drinkable although its rich acidity. Nice stuff.

Sampled at Nøgne Ø/Zwanze 2016. Unclear golden body with a thin white head that fades. Aroma quite acidic with citric fruit, yeast, esters and hint of yoghurt. The first sip is immediate rather sharp acidic, then the citric fruit flavor evolves with more complexity, acidic berries, lemon zest, wood, yeast and yoghurt. Its still “in your face” acidic, but in a very nice way with lots of complexity and an overall impression of refreshing and tasty. Impressive well balanced body at only 4% ABV with a long lasting sour aftertaste. A really nice first impression for this brewery and it makes me happy to see that some new brewers take their time and effort to make sour beer the hard way in this Berliner Weisse/fruit juice era.
