By now you probably know we enjoy the people up at BLIS and the incredible products they put out. In this most recent collaboration we made a Black barleywine that is very heavy on the oat, with a massive addition of maple syrup towards the end of fermentation for a bit of residual sweetness. The whole thang then spent some quality time inside BLIS Maple Syrup Bourbon barrels to develop into the smooth and rich concoction that straddles the line between Barleywine and Stout. Don’t overthink it, you just gotta give it a try.

On tap at Haandfest. It's an unclear brown beer with a dense, finger-thick dark beige head. The aroma has caramel, chocolate, dark dried fruits, alcohol and faint notes of bread and nuts. It's quite sweet on the palate, full-bodied, smooth and warming, with a very light bitterness. Caramel, semi-dark bread, dark dried fruits, chocolate and a hint of nuts in the flavor. Alcohol too of course. Lasting finish. A delicious beer inedeed, but a bit alcoholic I think. Interesting with a beer in the border areas of Barley Wine and Imp Stout. 190503

Black with a brown head - Dark malt, dark fruity and wood aroma - Dark malt body with a dark fruity flavour with a nice sweet wood and bourbon flavour - The dark malt and fruity flavours with good wood barrel flavour goes into a long sweet finish with some alcohol heat in the back - This was real good
