Bottle, at the brewpub. An oily dark brown pour leaves a minimal sized beige head. Cute lacing. The aroma is roasted and burnt, almost like ashtray and burnt down bonfire, with a touch of caramel sauce. It's semi-dry on the palate, still with a good enough sweetness, with a soft carbonation and a pleasant warmth. The flavor has a burnt malts kind of bitterness, with roasted malts, burnt notes, charcoal and some caramel sauce. A touch of licorice chimes in towards the very end. A nice one, although a bit gentle, and I wouldn't mind more complexity. 190609
