Bottle at De Koffer, Groningen. Aroma is oak, whiskey, red fruits, cherries, dark malt, chocolate, mild smoke, some vanilla. Flavour is about medium sweet. Body is above medium. Very smooth and nicely balanced, not extreme in any way, just rich and well-balanced. Well done Bax.

Many thanks to ShivanDragon for this bottle. Grainy smoked nose. The beer starts deep and roasted. Wood, very dry and smooth. Lots of dry roasted grain, hints of sweetness, round and refreshing. Long dry roasted woody aftertaste.

Bottle [thanks to RW80] @ home. Dark brown color with a full sized fizzy beige to light brown head. Smell and taste malts, dark malts, some bitter. All those flavors in the previous ratings, I don’t get them. To me the carbonation is way too high and very annoying and it gets in the way of the flavor so I just don’t taste so much. Whisky? Don’t get it. Bitter, malt bitter in the finish. But not a lot more. Didn’t live up to the expectations -if you had them- based on the average score (3.93 when I tried it) imo, but it might be worth a rerate at some point.

Loads of smoke! Way better than the regular. Smoke doesn't overpower the rest, and doesn't taste fake. Powerful and flavorful.

Bottle at home. Pours black, nose is chocolate, biscuity, smoky, toffee, taste is sweet, chocolate, light liquorice and vanilla, just a bit flat and thin.

Bottle from Biernavigatie.nl. Dark brown colour, creamy beige foam. Nose of smoked malts, whisky, caramel, vanilla, fudge. Very complex and tasty but not boozy. Very well balanced. Great beer!

Das Bier ist fast schwarz und hat eine geringe bräunliche Schaumkrone. Geruch süß röstmalzig, schokoladig, torfig rauchig. Geschmack sehr schokoladig, mild torfig, dezent rauchig, geringe Holzigkeit, gut!

@BFGM15, Ok hier gaat een correctie op komen: - alcohol percentage, deze heb ik gebaseerd op het huidige basisbier van de Bax Koud Vuur, echter klopt dat natuurlijk niet omdat deze gelagerd is geweest op Sherry en Highland Park Whisky vaten. Dit echter ook nog maar voor een zéér korte periode van 2 maanden dus de naam moet ook nog eens gewijzigd worden. Definitieve naam en alcoholpercentage waren ten tijde van het ten proeven brengen aan het gepeupel nog niet bekend... Van het basisbier begint de rooktoets langzamerhand wat te verdwijnen naar de achtergrond, het is na 2 maanden zeker nog aanwezig. Ook zo langzamerhand beginnen de Sherry en de Whisky smaken wat in het bier te verschijnen, Het bier wordt ook wat droger en iets romiger. Redelijke body, glad/romig, maar bovenal nog totaal niet uitgebalanceerd.... nog maar een keer proberen over een klein jaartje of zo...
