Bottle from Supervalu, Longford [180316]
Brown, clear, off white head, some lacing
Aroma of caramel, toasted malts, light nose
Taste of caramel malts, some toasty malts, bit nutty, soft bitter spicy hops, slightly earthy
Palate - Medium carb and body, quite smooth, light bitter. Finish of soft toasted bitter caramel malts, slightly dry, light spicy hops
Overall - Less malty than I expected for an Altbier and more bitter hoppy and toasted. Easy going. OK. Would suit cask much better

Bottle from Appellation Wines. Appearance - dark brown with some red chinks. Nice fluffy head. Nose - toffee and herbs from the hill. Taste - burnt toffee, lightly herbal. Palate - close to medium bodied with a creamy yet tangy texture and a fairly balanced finish. Overall - this is pretty solid. There is a lack of the cold conditioning thing here though. It’s an enjoyable beer but isn’t this a brown ale that hasn’t been lagered long enough.

Amber-ish color with a fine off white head. Dried fruits and to much yeast in this one. Medium + body and a soft carbonation. Tad sweet and a moderate bitterness. Nah not god at all.
