A heritage Victorian porter, brewed to an appropriately robust gravity. Amber, brown and smoked malts combine to create a moderately full-bodied and warming beer with residual sweetness, a creamy mouthfeel and flavours of chocolate, toffee and smoke. Bitterness is low, but the addition of English Goldings hops results in a delicate herbal/earthy aroma.

Cask at Beer Emporium, Sandbach. Pours a dark burgundy with a small cream head. Aroma is mainly roasted malts. In the mouth it has a fluctuating bitter-sweet intensity and a creamy texture. Flavour is pleasingly complex. Roasted malts are to the fore, but coffee, liquorice and dark fruits are in there as well. Later on some cola and smoky toffee come through as well, leadingto a slightly dry and bitterfinish. This is excellent !
