Oldham Beer Festival 2025, beer number 11 of the afternoon. Black, coconut heavy aroma and taste, although I guess this could also be viewed as marshmallow and liquorice. Has a relatively easy smooth texture for its strength.

Cask at Crown Hotel, Nantwich. Pours almost black with a small foamy beige head and good lacing. There’s a deady roma of roast malts and lactose plus some hints of alcoholic strength. In the mouth it is sweet, creamy and velvety smooth. Cream is the main flavour with whiskey and traces of liquorice, marshmallow and (after a while) dark fruits. Finish is sweet, creamy - and somewhat boozy ! This is simply gorgeous – easily superior to any other Sandstone beer I’ve ever had. [ I had it at Crewe beer festival as well, but couldn’t rate it because I was working behind the bar ! ]

Cask at the Nottingham Beer Festival 2023. Off black colour with a white head. Aroma and taste are creamy and melty sweet. Medium body.
