On tap at De Paas in The Hague. Dark brown pour with a fine-grained tan head with good retention. Smells like milk chocolate, coffee, molasses and caramel. Tastes like caramel, licorice, roasted malts, coffee and milk chocolate. Smooth mouthfeel with a medium carbonation and a cocoa-sweet aftertaste.

33 cl bottle from De Bierkoning. Black opaque brew, big dark head. Nice aroma’s of coffee/mocha, hard roast, some sweet maltiness. Flavor is somewhat sweet, roasted, some bitterness coming up, to finish rather bitter & roasty. Just a bit thin on the palate, but excellent otherwise.

33cl Bottle from De Bierkoning. Black colour, beige head. Aroma of sweet malts and (Belgian) chocolate, coffee, hard roasted malts, sugar, some alcohol. Flavour is sweet, but also bitter roasted, coffee, plain chocolate, good light earthy, hoppy and hard roasted bitter finish. Medium to fullbodied, rich and tasty. Just a bit more booze than the regular Van Vollenhovens Extra Stout.
