From tap at Little Delirium, Amsterdam. Roasty malty aroma with loads of coffee, espresso, vanilla beans, and coffee grounds. Plentiful coffee assault, flavour is more roasty bitter than sweet. Body is above medium. Good stuff, could have used more body, the coffee works well.

Bottle. Almost black. Coffee, vanilla and a hint of licorice in the aroma and flavor. Roast. Sweet and alcoholic, but pleasant.

0.33 l bottle from 'Sterk Avondverkoop', bottled in October 2018. Pitch black with a medium large, frothy, stable, beige head. Sweetish-malty, gently roasty, fairly fruity and a bit resiny aroma of dark chocolate, lots of coffee, blueberry, soft cakes and traces of pine. Gently sweet, malty, fairly roasty, gently fruity taste of dark chocolate, massive coffee, cocoa powder, licorice, blueberry and soft cakes, followed by a long, rather roasty-bitter, earthy, slightly resiny and powdery finish. Full body, smooth, creamy and gently effervescent mouthfeel, average carbonation. Not just coffee but also lots of hops is what this beer provides for. Rather unexpected and not totally convincing as the hops clash heavily with the coffee. Still a proper RIS.

Bottle at home. Black with dark beige head. Sweet toffee, roast, lots of coffee, vanilla, earthy, dark chocolate. Over medium sweet and medium bitter. Full bodied with creamy feel. Great!

The seventh in this Daemon series by Amsterdam's Walhalla, an imperial stout flavoured with coffee and vanilla beans; bottle from the Mitra in Lelystad, shared with Craftmember. Mousy, creamy, quite thick and long-lasting, mocha beige, tightly lacing head over a black beer with not much more than one millimetre of burgundy haziness around its edge. Aroma of cold black coffee and old coffee grounds, dusty old 'fondant' chocolate bars, 'haemoglobin' iron, moldy acorn shells from a forest floor, toasted walnut, cigar ashes, burnt paper, dry green tree leaves, bitter weeds - but the vanilla remains almost unnoticeable. Restrainedly sweetish dried fig and old raisin notes in the onset, some beef stock and black olive umami here and there, sourish undertone stretching through the whole palate, softish carb, thick oily mouthfeel. Thoroughly toasty-nutty backbone, unsugared chocolate and strong, eventually bit ashy roastedness, ending in a strong bitterness as this roasted aspect is amplified by both the added coffee (which sadly shows little aromatic quality), spicy hop bitterness and a peppery, warming, gin-like alcohol effect. Very bitter, ashy, roasty stout, the vanilla remaining all but absent - maybe this bottle is a bit too old already and its delicate aroma has completely faded by now, but even then I was hoping to find a bit more of it as I love it in a good stout. Decent and drinkable if you like your stouts firmly roasted, but a bit crude as well.

Bottle at home. Black with light tan head. Big sweet deep roasted chocolate malts, massive coffee, molasses, truffles, ash, black seaweed, scorched earth. Big sweet and bitter. Full body and soft carbonation. Reminds me of a certain homebrew by Maakun & the I-ay with the use of big Mexican coffee beans.
