NEDIPA by what appears to be a new microbrewery in the Hainaut province, founded by a Belgian and a Canadian brewer within the framework of Agricoeur, a cooperative site where manufacturers of organic and ecologically sound agricultural products have joined forces; small batches only, so thanks to tderoeck for the can (and to Didier for bringing this brewery to our attention)! Loudly fizzing, moussey, yellowish egg-white, thick, fluffy head, gradually receding over a 'milky' opaque, beige-tinged macaroon blonde robe. Luscious nose of mango, pomelo zest, orange blossoms, fresh lemongrass, papaya, limestone, Graham crackers, sweetclover, gravel, oatmeal porridge, acacia honey, hint of dusty old strawbales or even old doormats but not too disturbingly so. Juicy onset, rounded and sweetish with a sourish edge, bright and 'summery' with mango, guava, pomelo and lychee in the mix; moderate carb, though perhaps a tad stingy for a NEIPA of any strength, with some minerally effects piercing through a smooth, oat-velvety, wheat-slick and soggy cracker-like core, remaining steeped in citrusy and tropical hops - but never overdoing it in sultriness and zestiness. That 'old and dusty' note returns retronasally, momentarily pulling away attention from the New World hops - but luckily those do come back in the end, even bringing a slight, well-integrated bitter accent for a brief while. After that, warming alcohol is noticeable, but it does not interfere with the flavours and a tropical-fruity juiciness is still the last thing that lingers. No sign of hop burn or other obvious flaws this genre often shows, quite bright and radiant as it ought to be - so this 'dusty old worn-out doormat'-like accent is easily forgiven, especially considering this is such a young brewery still. Nice work - especially seen the fact that not many Hainaut breweries so far have managed to create a 'believable' NEDIPA (or even IPA in general)... A pleasant discovery.
