Deep gold in color, this beer is luminous in the glass. From the very first sip, the full-bodied flavor is immediately perceptible – a balanced harmony of hop and malt aromas.

Bottle at Hops, Crewe. Pours golden yellow (with a greenish tinge) . Noral pouring gives virtually no head whatsoever, but vigorous pouring manages a small white head. Continental hops to the fore in the aroma plus malts and traces of herbs. In the mouth it is sweet and juicy with a creamy texture, and a little underlying bitternesss. Hop and malts to the fore again in the flavour, but also a significant amount of berry / summer fruits. Finish is a little gassy. This is decent enogh – certainly refreshing.

Bottle. German and American Oktoberfest are different. This one is gold in color with a small head. Not very tasty, a little bit spunky, a little bit like a pilsner in taste. Aroma is hay-like, straw, bread. Just ok.

Notes from January 2011 $2.99 from Whole Foods. Grabbed the weiss glass on instinct. Whatever. First thing that I noticed was that it was a bit pale for an O'fest brew. Pale, chill hazed gold. Not quite vivid, but with a constant stream of activity. Decently stacked dollops of eggshell white head. Flimsy strings of lace, though it froths nicely with just a soft shake. Smell is doughy with many unnecessary fruit esters. Do I smell banana again, or is this glass permanently stained with Weihenstephaner? Stickier Euro malt below it. Faint grassy hops along an unwelcomed yeasty backdrop. Taste thankfully goes away from the traditional house flavor. Subtly sweet sourdough-like flavor. Hops are brighter then expected(being leafy & slightly biting), but not quite approaching Pilsener territory. Brief metallic note somewhere in the middle. Finish Ritz crackers & some mildly macerated lettuce. Carbonation is solid. Feel is light bodied, with a slightly grainy character. Needs a bit more residual sweetness for the style, but I like it for what it is.
