50 cL bottle. Pours clear and golden yellow with a small white head. Aroma is mild spiced and grassy. Sweet caramelish and slight malty flavoured. Bitter and dry. Quite simple. Lasting sweet impression.

Bottle, 5.6%. Clear orange colour. Very small white head. The flavour is nicely malty with a bit of fruit, orange, but not citric. Medium bitterness, clean enough.

Bügelverschlußflasche: Light amber coloured, a bit unclear, lazy carbonation; moderate hoppy-roasty nose with a nutty touch; moderate dryish bitter-sweet flavour, medium bodied; fruity-nutty traces in the drier malty-hoppy finish. Chapeau, a well crafted Festbier..........

bottle, from my local supermarket. This is the first Christmas beer this year. I think this is the first Schussenrieder Christmas beer ever, so I was quite (pleasantly) surprised to stumble across it today. Clear amber-golden colour with a persistent and lacing white head. Shy malty nose. Medium- to full-bodied with a good malty base and flavours of marzipane, dried fruit and spices. Quite hoppy in the finish, which makes a nice contrast but goes well with the spicy flavours (clove, cinnamon). A very nice Festbier that really has something christmasy about it, even on a grey, cold and rainy October day.
