Gerste is a blend of classic dutch gerstes aged for an average of 27 months in used merlot barrels. It was bottled on the 21st of May 2024.

This beer is a blend of three different base gerstes brewed in 2021 and 2022. The oldest part of the blend is 32 months old, the other two are 24 and 23 months old. It’s the perfect showcase of the base beer I use for all of my other blends.

Bottle. Color: Clear golden, very thin, fast disappearing white head. Aroma: Some tartness, funky, fruity notes of berries and grapes. Taste: Funky notes, fruity white berries, white grape, hints of citrus, notes of oak wood, malty and bit grainy body, hints of caramel. No carbonation. Light to moderate tart. Very light bitterness. Medium body. Lambic-like. Nice to have the possibility to try this base beer of all HenkeBier beers.
