Podróże Kormorana Rauchbock

Polish smoked Bock, from a 50 cc bottle at Ganzerik; the Polish have been using smoked malt for generations, from long before their craft beer revolution, so this is quite a traditional choice coming from Kormoran. Moussy, pale beige-ish egg-white, lightly lacing but unstable and loose, dissipating head over a misty brown-bronze coloured beer with burgundy hue. Aroma of smoked bacon and bonfire, caramel candy, dried figs, treacle, hazelnut, elderberries, tra, pipe tobacco, dry earth, raisins, some hay and wet dog. Sweet onset, raisins, dried blackberries, light baked banana hint, sourish aspect, minerally notes, slick and slightly resinous mouthfeel, medium bodied. Caramelly malt sweetness dominates, with a soft nutty edge; the smoky aspect, though explicit in the nose, only superficially and subtly returns in the mouth, with a light smoked meat accent towards the finish. Late herbal hop bitter touch balances the caramel sweetness and lingers a bit on the root of the tongue. Very correct for what it is, an almost Dutch style smoked Bock, but the smokiness promised in the nose doesn’t really deliver in the mouth to the same extent, this could have been more outspoken for me. There is, however, no denying that this is technically a very well-made beer, though I have a feeling that its high score here has something to do with the new and young Polish craft beer scene being overly enthusiastic about its own accomplishments.

bottle from eBrowarium. Brown with a tall and creamy beige head. Lovely and promising smoky nose. Full-bodied, dark malts dominate, nice amount of smoked malts and some good hops to finish it off. Very nice.

Bottle thx to Benzai, medium sample. Clear copper color, short frothy head. Aroma of german smoked malts, campfire, bacon, sausage, bit earthy hop. Slight sweet in taste, smokey, slight bitter. Nice stuff.

Bottle shared with Caesar @ Caesars mancave. Clear red-brown color, average sized beige head. Aroma is malts, smoke. Taste some malts, moderately smokey in the flavor, smoke bitter, a hint of leaves, a hint of sweetness. Hmm ok decent. But I guess when you live smoked beers you’ll like this.

Leicht trübes orange braunes Bier. Geruch leicht rauchig, rotes Malz. Geschmack süß malzig, rauchig, rote Früchte, Schinken.

Rauchig malziger, süßlich rauchiger Antrunk. Spritzige Getreidenoten, etwas süß, weich. Etwas langweilig. 10/8/9/8//8

Clear dark brown colour. Aroma of smoked meat. Flavour is also smokey and also has some sweet fruity malts.

Dark brown with a small off-white head. Aroma of meaty smoke with lots of bready malt, caramel and licorice. Sweet malty flavour with nice meaty smoke. Very authentic
