Bottle shared by Johnny. Opaque black color, virtually no head. Aroma and flavor are malts, overly sweet, sweet vanilla, but overall way too sweet.

11.11.2024, tap @ Mikkeller & Friends:
Flat, deep dark pour. Aroma is slightly sweet roasted, dark malts, chocolate, dark sugar, vanilla, dried dark fruits, bourbon, old rope, oak, caramel malts, bark, cinnamon, salty licorice. Taste is sweet boozy, dark sugar, dried dark fruits, vanilla, old rope, chocolate, bourbon, salty licorice, dark malts, cinnamon, cough syrup, caramel malts, toasted coconut. Medium bitterness, sweet sour-ish boozy mouthfeel. Nice, just way way way too sweet. Just drop this marshmallow crap in beers. It does not belong in a beer!

Sugar, leather, caramel, some fig. Pours dark brown without any head and lacing. Sweet, boozy finish. Super syrupy consistency. Tap at Snally.

This one is a hard one to rate. 20 years ago I might have given it well north of 4.5, but these over the top big heavy beers these days, is this really what anyone wants? So on the good side, it is expertly crafted, huge roast and barrel flavors, massive syrupy body, achieves 14% without being overly boozy, probably because of the massive residual sugar content. There's the bad side - this beer is cloying syrupy, and the coconut flavors really start to dominate and detract, its just not a flavor I like in a beer. Any marshmallow or vanilla is hard to identify here, drowned in the coconut and roast. Could only drink in small sips, and finishing the big bottle was out of the question.

On tap at 3 Sons, pours jet black with a tiny head. Aroma is super complex, with lots of brandy barrels upfront; the bourbon takes a secondary seat, giving way to the vanilla beans, marshmallow, and some rum-soaked coconut. Flavour is very rich, with intense, sweet, dark dried fruits, big vanilla beans, brandy, and a hint of bourbon. The adjuncts kind of just blend together to give the impression of sticky dark sugars. Very well-blended, rich, and cohesive. Very good blended BA pastry strong ale.

Draft at Snallygaster 2024. Poured a very dark cola color, not quite motor oil, but close. Aroma was big toffee, sweet malts. Big booze, some coconuts, marshmallow, vanilla. Huge, but quite warming and enjoyable. Big chocolate. Super smooth, marshmallow, huge marshmallow. Super super good vanilla and bourbon and not a lot of Woody character. One of the best I've had.
