Schottische Ales gibt es traditionell in vielen verschiedenen Farben und Stärken: von hellrot bis schwarz, vom Leichtbier zum Vollbier, bis hin zum sogenannten „Wee Heavy“ Starkbier. Alle diese Biere haben eines gemeinsam: Sie sind eher malz- als hopfenbetont und haben eine leichte Restsüße im Abgang. Eine langsame, kalte Gärung gibt den typischen Malzaromen die Möglichkeit in den Vordergrund zu treten.
Das Weyermann® Under The Kilt, Scotch Ale hat eine intensive, hellrote, fast Sherry-artige Farbe und wird gekrönt von einer cremefarbenen Schaumkrone. Das Bouquet ist subtil mit Noten von Caramel, kräutigem Hopfen, Waldhonig und Earl Grey Tee sowie einem leicht rauchigen Unterton. Dieser findet sich auch im Geschmack wieder. Zu diesem gut ausbalanciertem, traditionellen Scotch Ale passt hervorragend ein ebenso typisches schottisches Gericht wie geräucherter Lachs oder Stremellachs.

Clear orange brown beer with a beige lacing. Aroma of caramelized dark malt, pine, melasse. Taste of mild smoked dark red malt, caramel, bacon, raisins.

Rauchiger, süßlich malziger Beginn. Leichte Herbe, vergoren bananig, geringe Herbe. Würzig, leicht zunehmende Süße, hohe Süffigkeit, weich. Langer Abgang, moderat röstig. 11/10/11/11/8/11
Malty beginning. Hints of grain, easy to drink with a malty grainy back. Hints of fruitiness very nice.

Clear dark amber, small creamy light beige head, unstable, irregular, falls down quickly. Aroma: very malty, lots of caramel, ripe to overripe banana, yeasty, butterscotch. MF: ok carbon, medium body. Taste: malty, lots and lots of ripe to overripe banana, a little bitter, malty, a bit metallic. Aftertaste: bit watery, some caramel, banana and banana peel, malty, grains.

ABV: 6.3%. Clear medium to dark red amber colour with a large, frothy, good lacing, mostly lasting, off-white head. Aroma is moderate to heavy malty, sweet malt, caramel, dried fruit, sweet malt - honey, smoked notes, light spicy - herbal. Flavor is moderate to heavy sweet and light bitter with a long duration, sweet malt, caramel, sugary - sweet malt - honey, dried fruit, light spicy - herbal, smoked notes. Body is medium, texture is oily, carbonation is soft and sticky. IMO: Nice and balanced. [20200728]
