Nordic Noir 3 Brandy Barrel Ed. is based on premium Norwegian ingredients and traditional Norwegian brewing techniques. Floor malted barley from Jæren, honey and juniper from Brekkestø, kveik from Voss and water from Grimstad. Aged in Italian brandy barrels. Nordic Noir captures the taste of Norwegian craftsman-ship, from raw materials to finished brew.

Aroma; alkohol, malt, kaffe, vanilje, karamell, brandy, eik(fatlagret), kveik, rosiner. Smak; rosiner, kveik, malt, rosiner, søt karamell, fatpreg, brandy, rosiner, lynghonning Myk munnfølelse. Fyldig, balansert, rund, smaksrik, eksploderer smak. Varig ettersmak, som stadig gir nye smaker. Meget fornøyd med valg av jubileumsøl!

Bottle, 330 ml, shared with Luka and MiroB. Dark brown with beige head. Chocolate brandy and nice fruity twist. Warming. Nicely rounded. Medium to full bodied.

Aroma is slightly dry sour-ish fruity, tobacco, dried dark fruits, salty licorice, spices, oak, dark sugar, dark malts, alcohol, cough syrup, tar, yeast. Taste is slightly sweet sour-ish boozy, dried dark fruits, alcohol, yeast, dark malts, oak, dark sugar, tobacco, old rope, minerals, bark, tar, fruit stones, cough syrup. Medium to longlasting bitterness, slightly sweet sour-ish boozy mouthfeel. Nice, but I like the other 2 better.

330 ml bottle in metal cylinder, as Nøgne Ø Nordic Noir 3 Norwegian Strong Ale Brandy Barrel Ed., at Cardinal, Stavanger. ABV is 15%. Black colour, moderate beige head. Boozy aroma of molasses, fusel, oak and brandy. Warming mouthfeel. Distinct flavour of brandy and oak, medium roast malts, raisins and other dark dried fruits, hints of chocolate and honey, moderate hops.

Shared bottle at Cardinal, Stavanger. Pours black with beige head. Aroma of dark dried fruits, honey. Tastes pretty sweet with little bitterness. Alcoholic sharpness. Medium bodied, alcoholic and sharp finish. I don't believe that this beer improved by barrel aging it.
