Cask at Mr. Thomas Chop House, Manchester. Light brown with orange. Hoppy, light aroma. Peppery, light on malt, but decent caramel afterwards. Good balance. Hoppy finish, but relatively mild. Nice, still not very rich, but good.

Small white creamy head takes a long time to settle. Yellowish coppery hazy body. Faint floral wooden aroma. Dry-sweetish floral fruity resiny taste with wooden notes. Mild, smooth mouthfeel. Mid-to-thin body. Clean and fresh palate. Dryish floral watery wooden aftertaste with dusty resiny notes. Quite nice, but a bit thin. (0.25l cask, The Barony Bar, Edinburgh.)

Cask@The George. Ambery golden colour with mediumsized beige head. Aroma is earth, flowery hops and also some slight citrusfruity sweet notes. Flavour is earth, bready malts, caramel and it gets quite graint notes in the finish.

(Cask@The George). Clear amber color, small white head, some lace. Cat pee grassy-hayish aroma. Same with flavor: cat pee, hay, notes of lime. A bit boring.

On draught at The Hope, Wandsworth (next door to Chez Bruce): Amber, small , stable and lacy off-white head; distinctive worty-hoppy nose with a - not unpleasant - barnyardy touch, pretty light bodied, moderate to stronger bitter-sweet flavour; increasing fruitiness and maltiness in the lingering bitter-sweet finish. Good session beer and a good appetizer before You enter the the culinary heaven of Chez Bruce............

Cask, White Lion, West Kirby. Amber colour with a medium creamy white head. Thin aroma; touch of yeast & malt . Sweetish and clean flavour with a dose of more malt and some light fruit. Medium bitter finish. All pretty straightforward and unremarkable, but drinkable.

[on draught at the Old Road Tavern, Chippenham, Wiltshire] Tastes more like a golden ale at first but with a rough-and-ready earthy follow through. Drinkable but nothing special. Re-rate 21/4/2009 at the Peaks Inn, Castleton: Amber, mineral taste with some sulphur, leads into a very bitter, earthy finish. Not to my taste. c6
