There is nothing quite like the comforting aroma that fills the home when baking with family. Inspired by late nights in the kitchen with Mom, Goose Island employee Paul Spiller sought to capture that sweet moment in this year’s newest member of the Bourbon County Brand Stout family.

2024 Bourbon County Brand Macaroon Stout is an imperial stout aged for a full year in bourbon barrels before adding rich cocoa nibs, sweet candied ginger and toasted coconut. This decadent stout is an homage to the flavors of homemade coconut macaroons with a twist of nostalgia.

bottle - shared with family on Christmas Eve. Awesome - not overly sweet, rich and bold as hell - beautiful

On draft a Dominion Wine and Beer. Pours black with a tan head. Aromas of bourbon and chocolate. Flavors are sweet, thick and delicious.

2024 bottle from Total Wine. Pours a pitch black with a finger of beige head that lingers. Huge dark chocolate, milk chocolate and coconut focused aromas with bourbon, oak and vanilla as it warms. Bourbon throughout with some fig, dark chocolate, coconut, chocolate drizzle and oak throughout. Same notes on the palate that lingers. Balanced finish with warming bourbon barrel, oak and chocolate. Excellent!

Small stay at Open Door. The usual solid black with a thin ring of foam. The nose brings up a bit of coconut and baking cookies. Very pleasant. Taste is mostly more coconut and cookies. Them some vanilla. Personally, in not catching the claimed ginger and cocoa, which I'd usually look forward to on a deep dark beer. . But what's there is very nice.

Bottle thanks to Trevor. Pours a dark brown hue with a medium beige head. A huge nose of spices and chocolate. The flavor is spice dominant, big baker's chocolate, vanilla, roast. Huge slick coconut in the finish. Works well once you get used to it.

On tap at The Beer Temple, pours black with a small light brown head. Aroma smells like a macaroon, with candied ginger and coconut upfront, followed by dark sugars, bourbon, and some cocoa. Flavour is rich, with lots of decadent coconut upfront, somewhat masked by the ginger, and sort of complemented by the cocoa. Finishes very buttery. The bourbon rounds things out nicely. Unusual blend of ginger and coconut, which I dont think Ive experienced before. Its certainly very well-made, but far from my favourite BCBS variant.
