Space Lion is our coolshipped & open fermented IPA. Dry hop, coolship & kettle additions with 3 varieties of American hops pack Space Lion with flavors of citrus, tropical & stone fruits along with a soft pineyness. An open fermentation combined with a touch of wheat & oats create a delightfully soft body. Golden in color with a fluffy white head, Space Lion is loaded full of intergalactic goodness.

Reviewed from notes.
Can to becher glass.
Appearance: dark copper color with a two finger white foamy head which dissipated nicely to leave some light lace.
Aroma: floral and citrusy hoppiness up front with a clean malt bill
Flavor: intertwines the prior noted aromas to a clean bittersweet quality; finishes semi-citrusy and malty
Texture: light to medium bodied, sessionable; good smoothness to it; medium hop bitterness to the tongue
Overall: I heard this is OEC's first IPA, well, it's not a bad stab at a style that everyone else is doing; however, I believe I might enjoy the other unique beers they do. This seems a bit old school-ish. I think I "might" be able to come back to this.

Junction Road store. Aromas are very mild with hints of resin and citrus. Flavors are like nose, bitter up front with some bittersweet in the middle and slightly more sweet than bitter at the end. Nothing special at all.

Undated can drunk 8/8/24. Lightly chill-hazed, deep bronze-copper. Giant, off-white head, well-retained. Piney-accented hops with light fruitiness, though not getting much in the way of tropical notes. Do get a lot of crystal/caramel malt adding biscuit, very minor toast and iced tea, much to my chagrin. Seems like one of the East Coast IPAs from 2006. But it's clean, pleasant, floral, no excess of pine nor resin. Ok, ok, this might just work! The wheat and oats actually help to mitigate the crystal malts. Whereas this style is usually too dry, scratchy, toasty and lacking in base malt depth and softness, there is an attempt at base malt sweetness and the oats definitely comfort the palate. Low bitterness with mild fruits and mild pine. Well-made, for sure and a nice change of pace.
