A fresh bright nose with light notes of dark malt. The taste is hoppy and soft and the bitterness is both from the grain and the hops to create a great balance with a light carbonation.

On keg at Six Degrees North, Edinburgh. Appearance - dark brown to black and opaque. Nose - chocolate and roast. A hint of something pine like if you go searching. Taste - more chocolate and mainly roast again. Palate - close to medium bodied and creamy. Dry roast finish. Overall - good but not a black IPA. It's a stout.

Can from Lupe Pintos. Dark brown body with a thick beige head. Faint lacing. Aroma of ash, blueberry and red grape. Flavour of blackcurrant and liquorice. Medium body with a smooth texture. Soft fizz. I like a Black IPA, and this is a good example of the style.
