Draft at the Fox and Hound, Philadelphia. Typical appearance for the style. Aroma and flavor of carbon copy. Mild mango, slight wheat / coriander. Pretty simple.

Bot. What a stupid name. WTF? Because of name, was not expecting much, poured like a ginger ale. The look is so apple, almost like a cider. First taste impressions come across as: "it is witty fer sure." Mango must have been added before the ferment but then as the session goes on I think it may have been flavoring added later. Yes, if there is mango in there, its not in yer face at least, but it’s becoming readily apparent. Kinda laid back and difficult to pick up those passing hints of mango-orange citrus at first but then mango comes up front. As the session ends, the smell and taste of mango seems to set in. There ya go, evil genius. Not sure if it’s evil or just a name to attract attention. Not bad, but in the finish too much of that savory leather mango thang comes thru and distracts from the overall whit bier feeling.

Sampled from a 12 oz brown bottle this beer poured a murk orange color with a medium sized soapy yellow-white head that left decent lacing. The aroma was musty with coriander, white pepper and mango. The flavor was yeasty, dusty and musty with notes of mango and pineapple. Long finish. Medium body. Ok.

This was poured into a mug.
The appearance was a hazy burnt yellow color with a light semi-transparent color. Super light streams of carbonation are seen rising to fill no head.
The smell starts off with a sharp sweet mango rolling into some clementine and bringing about a crisp wet pine underneath to slightly balance. Light honey also plays a nice part as well.
The taste was mainly sweet through the citrus and mango. Honey comes back nicely. Sweet citrus aftertaste runs into a sweet wet finish.
On the palate, this one sat about a light on the body with a clear sessionability about it. The carbonation seemed barely there and allowed the wheat part to impart the harshness.
Overall, though a bit under in the yeast and wheat part, in my opinion, if there was such a thing as a session witbier, well Evil Genius pulled it off. I’d have again on a hot day.
