Golden-yellow and hazy in appearance, this brew is a soulful combination of American and German ingredients. Complex yet incredibly subtle, a faint sweetness immediately greets your palate followed by a distinctive wheat note. Notes of banana and clove are ever so subtly detected on the finish.

2$ can from vintage. Pour is certainly hefe like, cloudy pale. Thin creamy head fades to pond scum. Rather smooth wheat ale nose but lacks any typical bubble gum, banana or clove character on the olfactory. Oh, first taste tells me this is more like a wheat ale than a hefe. Certainly none of the attributes of a finer civilized hefe from the old country. Yes, its just a medium bitter unfiltered wheat ale, if you ask me. Maybe if I swirl the can and try again; nope, the description says notes of banana and clove, but they are just not there. A little disappointing. In the middle, the wheat ale bitterness keeps building, even gets distracting. This stuff is really nothing like a hefe, straight up wheat ale to the finish. No hint of fruity esters nor spicy phenols! Oh well, so be it. It really bugs me when a brew is advertised as a smooth hefeweizen but ends up being a typical domestic wheat ale. There's not even any yeast sediment on the bottom of this can, balderdash.

It's very summery. It's quite tasty. Can you tell?
