Deep purple brown color. An odd sour and slight sweet nose of elderberries, bourbon, iodine and oak. Modestly tart with bourbon really pronounced against tartness and oak. It goes in a few too many directions. Unique. I like but can’t love. Too many things competing

Super deep and completely opaque black coloured body with a thinnish, very fast-dying off-white head that barely stays afloat. Aroma of very soured cherries, raspberries and prunes with a tart note, some light chocolate and even a bit of coffee noticeable towards the end. Medium-bodied; Super pungent vinous flavours with a lot of cherries, grapes, figs, prunes, raspberries and especially alcohol noticeable throughout, but there is a touch of chocolate in addition to some very toasty malt notes that are quite strong and balance this out nicely. Aftertaste shows the fruits front and Centre with a ton of sweetness, a lot of pitted fruit and pungent toffee and caramelised sugars on the edges, but the tartness stemming from the Belgian yeast strain is unavoidable, in a good way. Overall, a very nice Belgian Quad that shows a perfect balance of punch, malt, tartness and especially the fruity sweetness that reigns supreme on this one. Great to sample and well worth grabbing or trying if you can get your hands on it! I sampled this nine ounce pour on draught at the Heretic Brew Pub in Fairfield, California on 14-March-2019 for US$6,00 sampled while visiting Northern California!

Tap at Hair of the Dog, Phloen Chit, Bangkok. Poured a clear dark reddish brown colour with a thin white head and some clingy lace. The aroma is yeast, red berry fruits, oaky vinous. The flavour is moderate to strong sour with a light yeasty biscuit dough, big tart red berry fruit, boozy vinous alcoholic palate. Medium bodied with average to soft carbonation. It’s like they poured a whole load of cheap wine into this beer or the barrel wasn’t entirely empty when they poured the beer in. So sour and very acidic. It took the lining off my throat.
