I would not expect to encounter a New Mexico-brewed quadrupel. So this was a pleasant locate at Susan's in Santa Fe earlier this week. I dig the label, all very Southwestern. My Chimay glass is involved in the tasting from the 16.9 oz bottle with the pour being a dark caramel-brown finished by a very thin, light tan ring of foam. The nose gives notice of the wine barrel aging, little else gets through. A taste delivers a combination of dark fruit and grapes, yeast, malt and white bread. Actually there is improvement as the bottle warms up, I get more of a separation of flavors, the vinous effect receding somewhat. Decent but I am left wondering what the result would be without the wine barrels.

Cask at GBBF ‘19, day three, 08/08/19. Rich mahogany brown with a beige cap. Nose is sticky fruits, toffee, brown sugars, dates, mellow barrel. Taste comprises oak, toffee, brown sugar melt, stewed fruits, prunes, light funk edge. Medium plus bodied, fine carbonation, semi drying close with a balanced boost on offer. Not bad.

Cask at GBBF 2019. Funky and sour dark fruits aroma with a booze. Opaque dark brown. Creamy light beige head sticks to the rim. Light sour. Nutty core. Light-medium bodied. Creamy. Flat carbonation. Long sour finish. Easy drinking. Slips down and hides the ABV.
