Cask gravity at Firkin Alehouse Folkestone. Black beer lasting tan head. Coffee chocolate and juicy liquorice aroma. Some bitterness on the finish. Some spice. Decent enough stout spicy finish. Plenty of flavour.

Handpump at Luppolo Station in Rome. Black color with a frothy and irregular brownish foam quite adhesive. Nose: licorice green root, burnt coffee leftovers. Mouth: clean body with a roasty roundness and a super hoppy overall.

Opaque black, very lively pour, frothy brown head. Smells of malt, coffee and is seriously dry. Taste didn’t hit me in the mouth quite like I thought it would. From the scent I was expecting something seriously dry but it’s a fairly standard stout. Which isn’t to do it a disservice, it’s got bitter chocolate, rich malt, a bit of citrus at the back like a black IPA would and a hint of liquourice throughout and lingering on the tongue.

Bottle thanks to allmyvinyl. Appearance - op black with a massive fawn head. Very lively in fact. Nose - chocolate and yeast. Taste - more of the same. Very yeasty. Palate - light to medium bodied with a creamy texture but the excess yeast spoils it. Overall - not sure this is how the brewer intended.

Bottle shared with Ashton McCobb. Pours dark brown with a massive tan head, seems over-carbonated for some reason. Aromas of chocolate and yeast. Taste is more woody yeast, faint liquorice, chocolate. Bit fizzy overall. Light cocoa finish.
