New England-Style IPAs are all the rage. Fans of Stone repeatedly ask for our take on the style, which can be met with some criticism. Rooted in West-Coast style IPAs for decades, how would we do it? Fear no more. Our brewers took the approach to deliver incredibly hoppy and aromatic flavor while keeping it very balanced, and upping the alcohol unnoticeably - nailing this astounding one-of-a-kind creation.
Overall this unfiltered double IPA is juiced up with massive tropical & citrus notes. The mild bitterness and relatively dry body compliment the style, and the residual maltiness nicely rounds it out. Lingering lime peel and tropical fruit derived from the hops stand out on the finish, begging one to seek out more.

The aroma of fresh hops envelops!

Draught at Harry’s Hofbrau. Cloying a sugary on both aroma and taste. Pours orange-amber - slightly hazed with full white head that retains as a collar and across the top. Massive lacing down the glass. Caramel on the flavor.

Can thanks to Beer Hop. It pours cloudy orangey - amber with a fluffy off-white head. The aroma is sticky, oily, resinous, tangerine, orange marmalade, lime, peach, papaya, brioche and candied peel. The taste is firmly dry, bitter - sweet, pithy, zesty, orange marmalade, tangerine, sticky, toffee, resinous, orange gummy bears, touch of spice, kick of alcohol, touch of west coast dankness, toothy and woody with a lingering bitter - spicy finish. Medium+ carbonation and moderate carbonation. Enjoyable stuff.

Appearance is amber, lots of rising bubbles, a thick foamy white head of around one finger. Aroma is ripe fruit, mango, papaya, caramel malt, candied fruit, hops. Taste is overripe fruit, bitter hops, orange juice, hop resin, juicy fruit, treacle toffee malt in the background. Lingering hop bitterness. Nice old-school IPA.

Can. Straight from can. Taste: Nice resinous and piney hopbitterness. Bitter orange, orange peel, subtle pineapple, tangerine, mango. Over medium bitter. Light to moderate sweet caramel malty background. Lightly boozy. Long lasting bitter and hoppy finish. Very nice hopforward DIPA, much better than all those nowadays fruitbombs. The juicy side of this beer fully supports the hoppy side. Stone rules for good IPA's...

Hazy pale pour from a can with a big rocky head. Smell is heavy volatile IPA. First taste is big nasty rubbery volatile hops as well, quite a kick in the palate, made me cringe. Mouth coating turpentine mixed with pine tar sap all blended together with the rotten fermenting pulp of green grapefruit rinds. Quite nasty but terribly on style for what it is. I'm so sick of IPA but at least this one gives you a little mental break considering all the terribleness. Simply one rude ass beer.

An orange beer, a head is medium and blond. Aroma has mandarin, also some other sweet citrus, grapefruit, mango, caramel. Taste has grapefruit, caramel, at least medium bitterness. Medium+ bodied. A little less caramel and this would be very good, but nice beer even now.

Lightly hazy copper pour. The aroma is primarily resinous hops with some citrus. The flavor is full of hops with pine and citrus notes along with a solid caramel malt presence. Very good, but Stone makes more impressive IIPAs.

Pours orange/amber with a large lasting head.Nsoe shows pine, spicy and resinous hops, sweet-smelling malt behind.Flavours include more piny, spicy and resinous hops along with a fair whack of sweet syrupy clean malt.

Amber colour. Hazy. Thick head. Smells really chewy. It was brewed in December so it's not poppin' fresh (didn't think it would be, never is by the time it gets to BC), but this is that crystal malt and cheesy hop stuff. Not bad, just old school. On the palate, not cheesy. Just chewy. There's a bit of brighter hop varietals in here, but they're clashing up with that malt bill and stack of alcohol. Billed as a hybrid of DIPA interpretations, it ends up being a blend of the less desirable attributes of both.
