New England-Style IPAs are all the rage. Fans of Stone repeatedly ask for our take on the style, which can be met with some criticism. Rooted in West-Coast style IPAs for decades, how would we do it? Fear no more. Our brewers took the approach to deliver incredibly hoppy and aromatic flavor while keeping it very balanced, and upping the alcohol unnoticeably - nailing this astounding one-of-a-kind creation.
Overall this unfiltered double IPA is juiced up with massive tropical & citrus notes. The mild bitterness and relatively dry body compliment the style, and the residual maltiness nicely rounds it out. Lingering lime peel and tropical fruit derived from the hops stand out on the finish, begging one to seek out more.

The aroma on this beer is insane and reminds us of getting fresh fruit from a farm stand on the side of the road. Now, make that a farm stand on the side of the road in Yakima, WA during hop harvest. The aroma of fresh hops envelops!

473ml can. Cloudy, amber colour with average, frothy, slowly osteoporosing, moderately lacing, white head. Sweet-ish, crystal malty and fruity, hoppy aroma with tropical and citrusy fruity aspects, a perfumed touch, slight jelly bear character, hints of mango, peach, pineapple, tangerine, a sugary touch; resinous hoppy overtones with rubber and liquorice aspects. Taste is sweet, caramel and crystal malty and crisp, bitter, piney, citrusy, slightly tropical fruity hoppy, notes of lemon, lemon drops, pine, pineapple, some mango, tangerine, a resinous touch; lingering, bitter hoppy finish. Very oily texture, smooth and soft, slightly cloying palate, fine and soft carbonation. Still pretty much West Coast: crisp, bitter hoppy, caramel malty backbone, more perfumed than juicy, fruity hop flavours. Probably as much East Coast as Stone can do.

Cask at the Great British Beer Festival 2019 - London. Pours unclear orange with a bubbly, white head. Holds notes of juicy citrus fruits, anise, oranges, light rindy bitterness. Nice depth. Medium to full bodied with fine carbonation; decent condition. Lightly resinous finish, fairly bright citrus. Nice overall.

I thought this was a beer about the fear the movie industry is feeling but it’s a tribute to What3Words the Global Positioning System that assigns an easy to remember 3 word “address” to each 3m2 of the globe... Stone Fear Movie Lions Unfiltered Double IPA 8.5% Nice orange color with a rocky beige head and bright citrusy pine aroma. Balanced malt sweetness and lingering bitterness. Very tasty classic Stone doing what they do best, maybe not super memorable but it hits the spot.

This brew finally became available as a single at the nearby beer shop, I picked up the pint can. I am sitting in ungodly late afternoon Texas heat, time to sample and try to get refreshed. I flip the tab and make the pour into my oldest beer tasting glass, a globe/snifter from New Belgium. I determine an inviting red-orange body with a healthy, stark white head. I dig the scent, sort of citrus, sort of tropical. But it’s the drink I’m here for. Wow, nice, orange rind, pine cone, mango, grain and decently hoppy. I appreciate the depth of the abv, kicks the taste up I think. Best IPA of any style I have had in quite a while.

16 oz. Two months old. Aroma is cantaloupe, caramel, bready, fruity, grainy. Pours hazy orange with fine particulates and a long-lasting cream-white head that leaves curtains of lace. Taste has a high pithy bitterness and is moderately sweet with tropical hop flavors. Not crazy about the amount of caramel malt in the nose, but the flavor is fine. Not bad.
