Cask at the Southampton Arms, London on 5th July 2020. Deep copper with shallow off-white foam affording a full lacing. Malty, spicy aroma. Leafy and malty in-mouth with spiciness, whilst the finish is pungent and spicy. Smooth yet engaging mouthfeel and a medium body. Interesting, traditional and pleasant.

(Cask at Southampton Arms, Gospel Oak, London, 21 Nov 2019) Dark reddish brown colour with foamy, beige head. Malty nose with notes of roasted grain, crisp-bread, raisins and caramel. Malty taste with roasted grain, chocolate, dried fruit and a mild earthy bitterness in the finish. Medium body, with a slight sweetness. Tasty and well made bitter. Nice one.

Half-pint, cask ale shared with Finn at Tapped Leeds. Clear copper body, filmy layer, fair lacing. Moderate dark caramel nose, lightly roasted. Caramel, nuts and a backdrop of fruity to the flavour character. Bittersweet endnots. Decent bitter version. (Leeds 28.01.2020).
