Brasserie d'Achouffe Houblon Chouffe IPA

Houblon Chouffe IPA

ABV: 9.0%   IPA - Belgian Out of Production
Highly sought-after by connoisseurs, Houblon CHOUFFE is a strong beer - 9% alc./vol., with a bitter and fruity taste. To recreate the bitterness of IPAs, we add three types of hops to our brews: Tomahawk, Saaz and Amarillo. Houblon CHOUFFE is the first Belgian IPA. Taste this magnificent beer and you can appreciate its subtle grapefruit note. This beer is also extremely popular as an ingredient in culinary dishes.

The gnomes of Fairyland may be little, but they have big, very big, personalities. HOUBLON CHOUFFE matches their impish spirits. All gnomes, with their innate good taste, are in full agreement about HOUBLON CHOUFFE, which is flavoured by three different types of hops. This India Pale Ale is appreciated for its pronounced bitterness combined with the fruity tones of traditional Achouffe beers: it softens the strongest of characters.

0.33 l bottle from Vrutak, Zagreb. Shared with little Dina. Clear golden, medium frothy white head. Moderately hoppy, basil, clear basil aroma, herbal hops, spicy notes. Behind it, there are hints of Belgian yeast character, spicy and fruity elements. Phenols and alcohol present. Green flavour, grassy, bitter, slightly astringent. Medium body, soft texture, warming but drinkable, bitter finish. Nice style, kind of unique.

Bottle from Belgiuminabox. Pours a slightly hazy light golden colour with a huge throthy white head. Nice lacing, good looking beer. Aromas of tropical and citrus fruits, hops and yeast. Taste is very similar to the aroma. Very fresh. Full bodied with a very slightly oily mouthfeel and a long fruity, zesty and hoppy finish. Fantastic beer.

75 cl bottle. Blonde, huge foamy head. Lemon, cream and red berries in the aroma. Initial malty sweetness attacked by an almost oily hoppiness. Cream, lemon and red berries. Long oily yet floral hopbitter aftertaste. The fruit, the power of the hops and the sweetness partly hide the alcohol. This bottle was worth every cent of its almost 9 Euros.

I think this is the prototype for the style. I love belgians, but these ipas aren’t my thing, it tastes a bit too chalky for me. online belgian beer factory
