Season 2023

Medium Sweet Sparkling Fine Perry

The first of a trio of Keeved Perries from 2023. The blend of mid season pears shows here with the comparable higher tannin content and satisfying mouthfeel from those fabulous pear varieties like Gin, Rock, Oldfield & more.

Bottles like this and the liquid inside certainly are not common and should be a thing of marvel, the low alcohol nature of this perry is a triumph and difficult to pull off. To have this and 2 more bottles of the same nature from the same year reveals how 2023 was a unique year for it.

All that achieved with fantastic balance of sweetness, bursting acidity and special pear tannins giving an unexpected BOOM of fun astringency. Abv 3.2%.

Sample with Grumbo via Ed. Aroma is floral, lavender, pollen (not unlike a mead), pear and herbal teabag. Sugary sweet and minimal carbonation. The dryness made the top of my tongue numb and do not think i have had a beer/cider/perry with such a dry finish. It was a bit of a challenge to drink, but tasted so good, it was worth it.

3/9/2024. Bottle shared by danlo, cheers Ed! Pours clear pale gold with a few bubbles. Aroma is baked pear, polythene, flowers, lavender, caramel, hint of honey. Sugary sweetness, light tartness, extremely dry. Moderate body, light carbonation. Astringent finish. Very interesting and oh so lip numbingly dry.

Panda at home, thanks to Ed Danlo. A mostly clear pale gold coloured pour with a decent white head. Aroma is semi sweet, leafy apple, fennel, light funk, green tea. Flavour is composed of semi sweetr, crisp, pithy pear, woodland fruit, mild citric, herbal notes, light must. Palate is super dry, chalky, fizzy carbonation. really quite unique, packs a full flavour for the low ABV.

750ml bottle from Cork & Cask. Sparkling, golden colour, foamy white head that quickly dissipates to a thin layer and aroma of perry pear, fruit, hint of funk. Taste is sweet, pear, fleshy, fruity, floral, citric, with balanced acidity and tannins. Medium bodied, light carbonation, tart & drying tannic sweet peary finish. Well balanced, very drinkable.
