Salcombe Pale Ale is a fresh, full-bodied and powerfully hopped pale ale. Its orange twist raises a glass to Salcombe’s 19th century fruit trade, with orange, pink grapefruit and anise on the nose. Dry hopped with Summit and Simcoe, for a robust, complex beer that’s bursting with flavour.

Can, 9 months in date. Clear dark gold, thin white head, little retention. Aroma of malts, grapefruit, a touch of citrus. Taste has a grapefruit bitterness, somewhat sour, a touch floral. Medium bodied, slightly drying, average carbonation. Well just average generally to be honest.

Keg at Royal Seven Stars Hotel, Totnes. Nil aroma. Light gold. The white head just sticks to the edges. Low key taste: citrus sourness. Umami undercurrent. Light bodied. Slicks. Flat carbonation. Dry finish. Understated. Or bland. Slips slips without leaving a mark.
