The Hopfish - a brilliant little thing. Catch one and reminisce about the classic days of IPAs fortified by multiple additions of hops and balanced with the residual sweetness of caramel malts. The Hopfish is always ready to take on the harsh conditions of the ever changing beer world.

(bottle) hazy copper colour with a small off white head; aromas of citrus, bit of bread; balaced flavour with a long medium bitter finish; the label calls it an English style IPA and as such it is good - more subtle and subdued

Much better than the extra pale ale, but still lacks much punch. Kind of just an underachieving IPA, without much taste. Smell is alright in the beginning, promises a little more than the beer delivers, actually. Some malt and a little hops. Bitterness is light at the end, and comes off with a watery texture. Pours copper. Bottle.

Bottle. Pours clear amber with a medium off-white head that dissipates quickly with some lacing. Aroma is of grapefruit, but fades rapidly after opening. Taste is mild, with a mix of citrus and floral hops and some sweet caramel malt backing. Finish is moderately bitter and clean. Surprisingly light for its type, and a little bland for my personal preference.

Received in trade from mdaschaf, thanks for the opportunity! Pours a slightly hazy golden color with a huge bubbly white head that shows great retention and lace. Smells of earthy and citrusy hops, with a bit of bready malt, some mineral aromas, and a bit of yeasty funk. Taste is a nice compromise between malt and hop. Earthy citrus meets bready mineral water and a hint of yeast funk. Medium body with a spirited level of carbonation and a slick mouthfeel. Meh. This one is ok, but there’s either some wild yeast working in this bottle or the beer was kept on the yeast too long after fermentation. No bottle dating so there’s no telling how old this bottle is.

Bottle in NYC, shared in Sander’s apartment while playing Scrabble. Pours clear gold with a foamy, white head. Dry pine aroma with subtle toast. Flavor has light citrus and mild toasty malt sweetness. Medium in body with average carbonation. Bit of bread and short hop linger in the finish. Some notes of citrus and honey. Alright.

Moderately strong noble hop bouquet of grass, dandelion, and daisies, with subtle hints of mint. Opaque dingy orange-brown, thin head, full of fine floaties.Considerably vegetal, with floral hopping, much less intense and pleasurable, than the aroma. Rather weak stab at an English IPA, but I do like the nose on it.

Bottle. Pours an apricot/light orange with a bit of fizz and a small head. Either I’m missing it totally or there is not much in the nose... a little bit of oranges and light maltiness is about all I’m picking up. Flavor is similarly washed out. I pick up a bit of a light orange and lemon citrus flavor, a little bit of a honey buns malt sweetness and that’s about it. I expected a little more of a robust edge from both malt and hops, so this is pretty bland.
