Can pour into rocks glass from Andover Liquors. Appearance is beautiful amber with haze created by tons of light and dark floaties, effervescent sparkle, finger-width creamy beige head with good retention and decent soapy lacing. Aroma is strong caramel, brown bread, candied sugar, lightly tart fruit. Taste is candied fruit, caramel, alcohol, cardboard. Palate is light-to-medium bodied with smooth, creamy texture, soft carbonation, slight numbing of the lips, and sweet candied sugar/caramel finish. Overall, decent features for the style. Nice.

Draught at the brewery, 5/27/17.
Clear, dark amber with brighter auburn tints and a medium-sized, beige head showing moderate retention.
Strong melanoidins in the nose immediately and easily balance the malts. Caramel, toffee, biscuit vie against cherry, raspberry, cranberry-like acidity with minimal hop character, no flaw or alcohol. Great complexity to it.
Lovely balance in the mouth, as well, showing caramel-raisin-like sweetness up front that is balanced by fruity, lightly acidic melanoidins. Malty, soft and gently sweet, it is nonetheless very well-attenuated with ample carbonation. Great mix of fruitiness, acidity and a layered malt structure. Quite delicious.

Reviewed from notes.
This was poured into a lager glass.
The appearance was a nice looking ruddy dark amber almost brown color with a two finger white foamy head that slid off at a moderate pace. Sly messy lace.
The aroma had a nice dark bready malt up front enlivening a little bit of earthy to grassy hop spices. Some baker’s chocolate with a little bit of wood combine fairly nice.
The flavor leaned towards the semi-sweet malty breadiness and did a decent job of blending in the earthy and grassy portions.
The palate was about medium bodied, perhaps a touch under with a sturdy carbonation about it. ABV felt good with a pretty good smoothness all around it.
Overall, pretty nice doppelbock that I could have again.
