The appearance was a semi-dark brown close to black color with a finger’s worth of off white foamy head that fell off at a moderate pace. Light lace.
The aroma had some mellow smoke, light roast, some ash. Light milk chocolate. Some light earthiness, but super delicate.
The flavor was moderately sweet. Smoke came back adequately. Little bit of wood. Ash disappeared. No aftertaste. Light smoke/slight coffee sort of finish.
The feel was medium bodied with a fair sipping quality about it. Good carbonation. ABV felt as appropriate.
Overall, good smoked porter, probably wouldn’t be a go to for me, but I did live in Juneau, AK at one time in my life. If Big Ditch is reading this, contact Alaskan Brewing Company to know how to brew a top tier \"smoked porter.\"
