Rye straw has been an essential element of brewing for centuries. In the days before stainless steel lauter tuns, the mash would be poured over a bed of rye straw in a wooden tub to separate the sweet wort from the grain solids. This dry, refreshing lager is brewed from pilsner malt, 30% rye malt, and spalt hops. A single decoction and the high protein rye malt adds a mild sweetness and full mouthfeel to balance and compliment hops. Brewed with 100% locally sourced grains from Double Eagle Malting.

Draught at OG location: pours deep gold with white head. Aroma is spicy, bready, rye. Taste is spicy, somewhat bitter, grainy. Nice.

16 ounce can from 5th Street brewery. Orange gold color. Frothy beige head. Earthy malt nose. Sharp rye grain flavor upfront. Distinctly bitter. Earthy malt and spicy hops. Lightly carbonated. Peppery finish.
