The Transatlantic IPA first brewed at 40,000 feet to celebrate the British Airways centenary takes flight once again. A citrus aroma with orange upfront, Speedbird OG is a hoppy IPA that’s best enjoyed at all altitudes. With fresh original can artwork designed by the winner of our Air Graphic Control competition, it’s a thing of airborne beauty.

330ml can served at 40,000 feet on the 777 from LGW to KIN. Don’t get so many rates on a plane! Poured a mostly clear golden colour with a short-lived, frothy white head. The aroma is grainy, light woody hops. The flavour is moderate bitter, with a crisp, juicy grapefruit citrus, light hop bitter palate. Medium bodied with average carbonation. Somewhat like a cut down Elvis Juice.

Can, medium long lasting bubbly foamy head, clear and quite deep golden orange colour, aroma of orange zest and minerals, herbal flavor with some minerals and a bit of citrus in the back, medium and a bit harsh bitterness. Easy to drink.

Can aboard BA from Bahrain to LHR. Soap and artificial citrus nose. That only becomes more obvious on the taste. Unpleasant for an IPA - sent back the second can offered.

Too much artificial zesty grapefruitiness, some sweetish maltiness and hints of fruitiness. Quite unbalanced and a bit messy.

Several cans to and from London. Pours a clear, golden color, with a big, frothy, beige head. The nose is passion fruit, pine sap, water crackers, caramel, and lemongrass. Sweet and sugary, with a bright, phenoic bitterness. Light body, slick, and a bit thin. Pretty nice, mellow, and clean.

[33cl can the BA Lounge, Glasgow Airport.] A bright amber pour with a ring of white head; lemony citrus aroma; sweet orangey taste with a malty body; and a citrus finish. A passable session pale ale.
