Prodigal is an imperial oatmeal milk stout with a massive fudge and roast malt character. It’s a foundation for some of our favorite stouts, now here to stand on its own adorned with only a handful of cacao nibs and Madagascar vanilla beans to round out the edges.

14/XII/19 - 1Pt. can from Bierhalle Deconinck (Vichte) @ Second Great Timternational Beer Geek Tasting (Gentse Biervereniging), BB: n/a - (2019-2149)

Clear black beer, practically no head. Aroma: nice roast, metallic, malty. MF: ok carbon, medium to full body. Taste: bitter, very nice roast, lots of alcohol, bit metallic, some dark chocolate. Aftertaste: coffee, roast, bit sweet, very nice, lots of dark chocolate, slightly sourish, bit malty. Lovely stout!

Can 1 pint. Pours an opaque black with a creamy, light brown head. Subtle vanilla in the nose. Rich, sweet, creamy body, sweet roast, again vanilla with the lactose adding it's soothing edge. Roast is rather dominant and almost coffeeish in its character. So kinda yin and yangish with two sides clashing: the harsh and the mellow. Warming alcohol finish. 061219

Large can drank @ Stephen O'Malley and François J. Bonnet concert from the can. Tasty cheap chocolate fudge, malt syrup, discount chocolate, faint dark bread, no complexity, faint alcohol. Bottom of the can had revolting chunks, totally fucking gross, minus points but also apparently contains lactose, totally my bad, I should know better & I should feel bad but still chunks are bad otherwise solid but lacking complexity for what it is.
