Our Pre Industrial Porter is a sour porter brewed to an 18th century recipe. Lighter in colour than modern porters, it is reminiscent of an oud bruin style.

Small off-white head over dark red-amber to mahogany, almost clear beer. Nose of Oud Bruin, with lactic acid, old wood, balsamico, cherry liqueur. Sourish, fruity, with a nice, late, almost Islay-like smoked malt flavour. Lactic acid, wood, balsamico. Sharp-ish, acidthinning and very light -burn. Not very carbonated, slick. Not bad!!! A Flemish Oud Bruin with Islay malt - and named 'porter'!

Keg at Moor Vaults, Enid Street, 24/10/19. Hazed mahogany brown with a decent light tan covering. Nose is tangy dark fruit rinds, funk, wood must, soured fruit mash, damp hay. Taste comprises fruit balsams, dried fruits, leather, acidic bite, tobacco pouch, prunes, soured fruit compote, light ashen notes. Medium bodied, fine carbonation, drying close with a balanced acidic kick back. Decent.
