clear amber, smooth light brown head. Aroma is bitter nutty, bitter caramelly, syrupy, slightly herbal spicy, judged as a quad, the aroma is not very dark dried fruity or sweet, not many belgian yeasty notes- but sometimes quad aromas can cheat. flavor is syruppy, dark bitter nuts, the herbal bitterness is way too strong compared to the other stuff you would find in a quad, and the dark dried fruity belgian yeast estery notes seems to be exchanged for something that taste like cheap caramel syrup or something like that. Not quite sure where jacobsen wants to go with this, and why they call it a quad - generic strong belgian ale would hit closer to home. Most other danish christmas beers that are belgian inspired are more balanced and easier drinking. This one also pairs poorly with food, i think, too herbal bitter. I am somewhat disappointed.

Clear dark copper, light beige head. Aroma has malt, caramel, mild yeast and dried fruit, alchohol too. Malty, caramely flavour, some fruity notes and rather raw and unbalanced alcohol. Really lacking character for a quad.

Draught @ Fox & Hounds, Sønderborg. Pours slightly hazy dark ruby / copper brown with stable beige head. Clear aroma of malt, caramel and dried fruit, with notes of yeast. Bitter flavour of alcohol and hops, with sweet notes of caramel malt and yeasst and mild touches of fruit and hints of vanilla. Bitter and estery aftertaste with malty notes. Well, not bad, actually it tastes a lot like reasonable non-Belgian Quadruples. The taste of alcohol needn’t be so distinct, though.
