Can from Mikkeller Bottle Shop, Aarhus. Black with a small dark brown head. Aroma is sweet, roasted malt, chocolate, licorice, light vanilla and wood. Flavor is quite sweet and rather bitter. Dry and rather bitter finish with warming alcohol. Oily. 250119

Can, 12%. Very dark brown with small beige head. Aroma is roasted malt, chocolate, coffee, caramel, soy and liquorice. Flavour is roasted malt, chocolate, coffee, caramel, soy, liquorice, sweet, hop, warming and medium bitter.

Draught @ Malt & Mold. Inky black with very small frothy beige head that’s gone fast, faint caramel malt aroma, medium carbonation, mocha, roasted malt, peanut butter taste with alcohol undertones, smooth body, long finish with alcohol aftertaste. Very potent.

(473ml can from Mikkeller Webshop) Pours black with a small dark tan head and lace. Aroma is sweet and roasted, malt-dominated with notes of dark toffee, molasses, chocolate syrup, burnt grains, light soy, char, vanilla, toasted coconut, soft oaky touches. Flavour is semi-sweet up front, rich dark malt with chocolate, burnt grain, some black coffee, vanilla cream, liqueur, again the oak is soft and smooth. Finish dries out substantially, nice hefty roasted grain bitterness, some cacao, burnt charred notes, drying oak, vanilla, nuts, a little liquorice/soy saltiness as well. Medium-full velvety smooth mouthfeel, soft carbonation, just a touch of the ABV. Really nice stout from Mikkeller NYC, who seem to be finding their feet as of late.
