A West Coast IPA w/ Masa’s Favorite Hops (aka Citra Cryo, Krush Cryo, Mosaic & Riwaka)
Our good good Pally™️ Masa from @uchubrewing.japan paid us a visit a few weeks back and we had the best time hanging, dancing, and selecting hops for this one together. We sniffed through every single possible new school hop varietal that we could use in this modern West Coast IPA, and these were his favorite hops and lots. It’s our classic GC-style, but with more dry hops more than usual (aka we DDH’d it!). Tasting notes? Think Oro Blanco grapefruit, Yuzu juice, peaches peaches, and some super fresh Maui Wowee in the linger bb. ありがとうございます、マサ!!!

Can courtesy of Ryan, who shared it with Fil and me. Huge thanks! Murky greenish golden body, off-white head. Big resin, onions and some stone fruit in the aroma. Huge resin in the taste, herbal notes, dank, some fruitiness, somehow more citric when sampled directly from the can - raising it for at least 0.1, and all that heads into a lasting big bitterness. This is impressive stuff!

Pours a slightly hazy, pale, pale gold, with smallish head. Aroma is very dank, with some citrus and pine. Flavors follow, with a moderate underlying sweetness. Crisp mouthfeel. Mild hop bitterness level in the finish.

On tap at Green Cheek - Oceanside, pours a clear blonde with a small white head. Aroma is dank and tangy, with plenty of tangy hops, some melon, some pine, and dankness. Flavour is piney, tropical and tangy in the hop department, with tons of melon-like hops, pine, plenty of white wine tang, and just enough biscuity malt to back. Wonderful hop blend. Excellent.
