By the historic Coniston Copper Mines, mythical Asrai emerge from the caves above the moonlit Levers Water. Cold and pure, these elusive creatures fear capture by man lest they fade away and turn into pools of water.
Asrai is an extremely delicate and pale golden ale, brewed with fine lager and wheat malt. Tropical fruit aromas announce coriander and Seville oranges to the palette, an irresistible siren courtesy of highly aromatic north European hops.

Cask-conditioned at the York Tap 22/7/2017. Deep gold in colour, with a thin, off-white, head. Citrus hop aroma, sweetish malts, tropical fruits, some white pepper notes and a dryish finish. Good.

Cask @ Market Tavern, Brighouse. Golden-blonde with a head. Light and hoppy and very easy down the palate. It feels watery but isn’t.

On cask at Black Bull, Coniston - Clear yellow straw body, thick lacing white head. Nose is minimal hop and citrus, nothing exciting there. Taste is crisp and clean, but again very little in the way of character. Swiftly on to the next one.

50cl bottle from Black Bull. Appearance - golden with a decent head. Nose - initially a lemon yoghurt thing then green plant note and lemon following it through. Taste - orange to pineapple, some green vegetation again. Palate - medium bodied with a big tangy texture and a balanced dry finish. Overall - a bit in between styles, some parts are golden ale, some are approaching the character of an Abbey Tripel.
