Well hello old friend, a nice dark mild to grace us during MARCH MILDNESS. We brewed this one with Maris Otter and a fun assortment of dark and roasted malts and hopped it with a bit of Fuggles and Polaris. It has notes of pumpernickel, dried fig, old library books, black currant jam, coffee over ice, and some homemade biscuits.

Cola, pecan nose. Cola black, thin tan head. Soil, tree bark, toasted pecan. Light body, easy carbonation. Solid, great flavor to ABV ratio.

They’ve nailed it. Creamy and toasted, nice smooth dark malt character, dark fruit accents, cocoa, burnt leaves. Mighty drinkable.

16 ounce can from Hamilton Super BuyRite. A Brewver Top 50 for the style. Translucent cola brown color. Large, frothy tan head is enduring. Wonderful lacing. Aroma brings notes of Baker’s Chocolate, toasted walnuts, Autumn fallen leaves and dark bread. First sip yields light toasted malt, black currants, unsweetened cocoa, mild coffee. Some bitterness on backend. Very malt forward and a splendid example of the style.

Pours deep mahogany into an English pint. Mocha head with good retention conglomerates and recedes leaving spot lacing. Sweet toffee, raisin and brown bread aromas. Soft with brown breed, pit fruit and molasses upfront turning to earth in the medium length finish.

Undated, fresh can, drunk 9/7/22. Dark amber-to-light-mahogany. Large, light-tan head shows moderate retention. Hugely malty nose shows plentiful base malt sweetness intermingling with the roast/toast character to give brown sugar, fig, light coffee and toasted baguette. Clean, low hop character, though still lightly herbal. Not as much minerality/yeast character as I'd like, but maybe that's obscured somewhat by the bigger maltiness. Soft, incredibly malty and intensely flavorful for its size. Rich chocolate, caramel, light coffee and hints of plum and raisin. Light bitterness on the end balances enough, but the beer remains very malt-forward. Kind of incredible how malty it is for its size. Would like more mineral/yeast character, but I'll live.
