Brandy barrels and Tripels are a match made in heaven. But when that Tripel is Hoppin’ Frog’s ultra rich and luxurious Pentuple, you’ve got a delicious digestif or dessert for almost any occasion. Caramelized apple and peach tones lead each quaff of this stunner, with a hint of orange zest floating just underneath. Swirls of spice and soft oak chase after, while a lingering vinous note unique to this variant carries on the end.

Bottleshare at Chez Frog. Thanks to Cloin for the can. Near clear deep amber beer, short lived and short bubbly cream colour head. Rich caramel and toffee malts, that lovely Pentuple base beer fruitiness. The brandy barrel is relatively light, but some juicy fruity brandy nonetheless. Rather good!

Zero head & zero carbonation - Amber coloured body. Malt, sherry & boozy aroma. Medium to full, oily greasy & clean on the back. Sherry, Madeira, jam, apple & brandy tastes with a huge boozy finish & alcohol burn. Great Brew & the ⅓ pint can is just enough.

8.45 ounce can from Tavour. Pours amber orange with a quickly dissipating white head. Sweet toffee malt aroma hints at apricot and figs. Rich malty flavor. Big warming alcohol sensation initially. Flavors of dried fruit, sweet caramel, orange preserves and brandy. Interesting.

Can from Tavour. Pours darkish ruddy amber with a transient tan head. Aroma is malt, yeast and brandy. Full bodied. This version lets some banana and spice show. Fair amount of heat. Some light wood astringency. Banana tends to persist. Malt is light toffee/caramel. It's very nice. Perhaps brandy doesn't occluce the more subtle aspects of the ale. Very nice - though over heated.
